Home › Real Story › Envelope Stuffing Opportunity Envelope StuffingAfter realizing that I wasn’t cut out for MLM, I soon fell victim to the old envelope-stuffing scam.I can’t even remember now where I first saw the ad, but I do recall that it was quite impressive. Large companies needing to mail out information would pay for me to collate, stuff and mail this material, all from the comfort of my own home. I would be paid up to .25 cents per envelope! My mind began to whirl at the untold riches I would make. Since I like football, I calculated just how many envelopes I could stuff while watching football on TV and multiplied that by .25! I was going to be rich. All I had to do was pay $25 up front to get on board with this company and they would list me as a certified agent. That’s exactly what I did. The only person getting rich was the person placing the ad. For what did I get in return for my $25? I was sent some really crummy information that looked like it had been copied on a post office copier 8,000 times (which it probably had). This information proceeded to tell me how I could place ads marketing the same information I had just paid for and then be "paid" for each envelope I "stuffed" with this junk. The person sending the request would pay me just as I had the person above me. Sort of a pyramid and a scam. Again, I’ve noticed the same kinds of promises are now circulating electronically online, so don’t fall for the promises. If it sounds too good to be true, it probably is. Why would a major corporation pay you to stuff envelopes when they can pay their own staff or Kinko’s a fraction of that cost? |
